Fighting fires in View Towers, the 325-suite building on the corner of Quadra and View streets, presents unique challenges, said Matthews.

"There's been a couple of incidents over the years," he said. "It's a large building and it's laid out a little differently than we are used to. There's a high occupancy rate and the population tends to be a bit transient. Access is a bit of a problem."
